Walmart Mentality.

Walmart replaced downtown because it was convenient and cost less money. Social Security replaced children (the family) taking care of their aging parents because it was convenient and cost less money. Medicare replaced children(the family) taking care of their ailing parents because it was convenient and cost less money. How you take care of your parents (grandparents, etc.,) says more about your character than anything else you will ever do in your life. Forsaking all to follow Christ does not preclude you from taking care of your own (parents, grandparents, etc.,), in Christ, as he leads. If you consider them not worthy of your love because of who they are, remember Jesus came for you, despite who you are. Ask the Lord for direction, he might tell you to leave them alone, but until then love them and take care of them as best as you can, as the Lord leads. It is not just to them you minister, it is to you and all who are watching, including your children and grandchildren, deciding whether they will take care of you (when you are in need). You are the witness to all who will follow, in word and in deed. It may be the toughest thing you will ever do in your life, parents are hard headed and set in their ways (offensive and all), needing your love to minister to their heart, i.e., to let them know they are loved by God. When they are gone (hopefully to be with the Lord) you will have no regrets. Convenience and money always seem to get in the way.

"For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye."
